Microsoft Authenticator Setup

Microsoft Authenticator Sign up

To improve security, we are integrating  Microsoft Authenticator as a two-factor authentication solution into our existing IT infrastructure. For more information regarding Microsoft Authenticator and Multi-factor Authentication, please visit: Microsoft MFA Info

How do I sign up?

Step 1:

Go to https://mfa-test.hsu.edu/  and sign in to your work/school account via Microsoft.

Step 2:

You will be requested to sign in to your Henderson account. This is a Microsoft login page. For the username, enter your Henderson email address. Your password is the same as your login to the computers and your email account.

Step 3:

After clicking Sign In, you will see a prompt to keep your account secure. Click the next button, and you will be prompted to install the Microsoft Authenticator App via your device's App Store. Click on the link to the App Store for your mobile device and complete the installation. Then return to this web page after installation is complete to continue linking your account by clicking the next button.

Step 4:

The next screen will show a page to pair the Authenticator with your account. Click the link for "pair your account to the app by clicking this link" if you are on the device with the Authenticator App installed.

If you are viewing this page on a different device, there are instructions for generating a QR code for pairing your account. Inside the app click the QR button in the bottom right of the main page. The icon looks like this.

You can scan the QR code and pair the account that way.

After you successfully pair the account, the account will be listed in the app, and you will get a notification that the account was added successfully.

Step 5:

Return to the webpage and click the next button to send a push notification to your device. If you have notifications turned on, a banner will pop up with a push notification for a two-factor request. The web page will provide a two-digit number for you to enter into the Authenticator App. Clicking the push notification will open the app.

After successfully typing in the two-digit number, you will get a message that states you have successfully added the sign in method to your Microsoft account.

You can now continue to your Henderson State University Resources.
